Drivers embrace new online driver CPC training from TTC Group

Drivers at East Riding of Yorkshire Council have embraced the new online Driver CPC training from TTC Group to such an extent that 98% of over 100 drivers trained to date would recommend it to others.

Having been awarded the contract to deliver the council’s managed Driver CPC programme in March 2020 – the time at which the Covid-19 pandemic struck and the UK entered Lockdown 1.0 – TTC Group rapidly accelerated its ability to deliver all training online. Since this time, the council has been using the virtual classroom offer to provide its drivers with the latest educational resources.

The online delivery will ultimately cater for over 500 drivers of vehicles for the local authority and already the success of the programme has been recognised by the council with 86% of its drivers rating the course 9 or above out of 10.

Philip Burgess, Fleet Services Manager at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said, “Moving towards delivering the CPC training online and working with TTC Group has been an easy transition. We have been really pleased with the training delivered and so too have our drivers.”

He continued, “We take our Driver CPC really seriously and chose TTC Group for their overall experience, customer service and ability to create bespoke training courses for our drivers. We have a wide range of drivers and different vehicle types and we believe that all training needs to be relevant to the driver and truly engaging.

“We have seen a change in our drivers and a keen interest in the online provision which fits perfectly with our long-term ambition to make training count and align with our ‘Everyone Matters’ vision.”

Andy Wheeler, Head of Technical Delivery at TTC Group, said, “At the time of the contract award we were converting all our Driver CPC courses to be compatible with online delivery which involved making the training as engaging as possible, while not deviating from the course summary.

“We were fortunate enough to have gained extensive experience in delivering training online as it followed the rollout of delivering National Speed Awareness courses via Zoom to thousands of drivers through our many UK police contracts.”

Online course delivery allows TTC Group to capture real time course feedback; assess drivers’ knowledge to ensure learning has taken place; and the agility to adapt courses as required.

At present drivers are achieving an 80% average score on their knowledge assessments post-training.
