Changes to the Highway Code which came in effect on the 29th January could present a rush in insurance scams from ‘cash for crash’ scammers. Fleets across the UK are bracing themselves for a deluge of scammers out to exploit the changes in the Highway Code, false injury claims against fleet operators are expected to increase dramatically. Pedestrians could well be the group where the majority of the ‘fake’ claims originate. With Rule H2 focusing on pedestrians crossing at junctions. Drivers, cyclists, motorcyclists and horse riders, “should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road into which or from you are turning”. Pedestrians may well decide to jump out in front of cars and vans to see what happens with regards to pursuing a claim , dash cams may well be the only hard evidence to curtail these scoundrel scammers
