Innovation Automotive outlines ambitions for the UK

Innovation Automotive (IA), the UK’s first multi-brand, all-electric automotive company, has begun setting out its ambitions for the UK market, ahead of its full-scale launch later this year.

IA pledges to simplify and demystify the process of switching to electric for businesses and consumers, bringing a new level of accessibility to the market. The company will adopt a customer-centric model, with the aim of becoming the go-to provider for efficiency-driven business operators and smart, eco-conscious motorists.

The company benefits from a senior leadership team with considerable automotive retail and aftersales experience. The company’s CEO is Paul Brigden, who has 35 years of automotive experience, most recently as Operations Director for Mitsubishi Motors in the UK.

The company believes that the recent acceleration of digitalisation and e-commerce is re-shaping customer expectations, driving demand for a simplified, modernised approach to vehicle sales. IA’s established team of experts will research, source and deliver best-in-class electric vehicles via a direct-to-consumer sales model, enabling customers to make the switch to zero emissions with minimal hassle and maximum confidence.

IA will initially focus on the Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) market, and its introduction could not come at a more pertinent time for the sector. Recent data released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) shows that, despite year-on-year growth, ‘Alternatively Fuelled Vehicle’ LCV sales accounted for just 3.86% and 2.38% of monthly sales in June and July 2021.[1]

Commenting on IA’s vision, CEO, Paul Brigden, said: “Innovation Automotive exists to make the switch to electric as hassle-free and straightforward as possible. IA hopes to challenge the reticence and scepticism that still exists in the market and help customers feel comfortable that they are making the smart choice”.

Brigden continued: “IA’s leadership team have been in the UK automotive industry for many years, and we understand the barriers that exist to making the switch to electric. That’s why we created this company. This is about offering the right products, at the right price with the right level of service.”

The first brands that IA will distribute in the UK will be DFSK and Skywell, with the class-leading DFSK EC35 compact panel van the first vehicle to go on sale in early 2022. This will be followed by the DFSK EC31, an electric chassis cab van.

IA also has an exclusive agreement to provide Skywell commercial vehicles and will be introducing Skywell products to the UK in the near future.

Those wanting to find out more can visit IA at this month’s Commercial Vehicle Show. The company will be exhibiting on stand F421 and is encouraging delegates to meet the senior leadership team and help fine-tune the company’s pioneering approach ahead of launch.
