Å KODA AUTO continues its success. In the first half of 2017, the Czech car manufacturer increased its deliveries, sales revenue and operating profit. From January to June, deliveries to customers rose by 2.8% to the new record of 585,000Â vehicles. Sales revenue grew by 22.6% to 8.720Â billion euros, surpassing the 8-billion-euro mark for the first time in the first half of any year. Compared to the same period last year, operating profit increased by 25.5% to 860Â million euros.
â€œÅ KODA AUTO also grew strongly in the first half of 2017,â€ said Å KODA AUTO CEO Bernhard Maier. â€œOur fresh and attractive model range that we extended in February with an important component, the Å KODA KODIAQ, is extremely well-received by the customers. Committed demand remains good ensuring factories work at full capacity and we are therefore optimistic looking ahead to the second half of the year. In the fourth quarter, we will further boost growth with the market launch of the new Å KODA KAROQ compact SUV,â€ said Bernhard Maier.
Å KODA AUTOâ€™s sales revenues increased by 22.6% to 8.720Â billion euros in the first half of the year (first half of 2016: 7.114Â billion euros). In the same period, operating profit recorded a significant increase of 25.5% to 860Â million euros (first half of 2016: 685Â million euros). The return on sales was 9.9%, up from 9.6% in the first half of 2016. Net cash flow reached 1.159Â billion euros (first half of 2016: 583Â million euros).
â€œThe demanding market environment is a big challenge for the entire industry,â€ said Å KODA AUTO Board Member for Finance Klaus-Dieter SchÃ¼rmann. â€œWith very good results, Å KODA AUTO proves its financial strength and yield security. Favourable volume and mix effects were important factors for Å KODAâ€™s further improved profitability. Exchange rates which developed to our advantage also contributed to this yearâ€™s strong interim results,â€ added SchÃ¼rmann.
As part of the Å KODA Strategy 2025, the brand will be vigorously pressing ahead with the expansion of its model range in the coming years. The primary focus will be on expanding the SUV portfolio. With a total of 27,100Â deliveries since February, the new Å KODA KODIAQ SUV has had a successful start in the markets worldwide. With the introduction of the Å KODA KAROQ, the company is now setting the next milestone. The new compact SUV celebrated its world premiere on 18Â May in Stockholm.
