With the Prime Minister Boris Johnson bringing forward the ban on new internal combustion engine cars and vans by 10 years to 2030 the new immoveable target has forced the fleet industry to quickly get up to speed with electric vehicles. The new 2030 deadline is heading our way at a rapid speed with electrified vehicles soon to become an everyday part of transport for business. Vehicle data from Epyx suggests that the take up of electric vehicles is already sitting  at roughly  healthy 14% of fleet acquisitions , one in seven cars and vans operated by fleets are now either hybrid or battery electric vehicles (BEVs). From 5% last year to 14% at the same point this year points towards a surge of interest from company car drivers for electric vehicles, amazing figures from Tuskers show that 45% of all new car orders over the last 30 days have been for pure electric vehicles (EVs). Many factors are driving the switch to the electric vehicle, in my opinion non more than the current zero-percent benefit in kind rate, this however will have to come at a cost at some future point, the treasury needs to raise taxes from somewhere?
