As the government announced a new national lockdown this week to control the spread of coronavirus a number of automotive related businesses are once again having to adjust to the new regulations the latest lockdown brings, this coupled with the added burden of additional Brexit regulations and supply will make for a difficult start to 2021 for both manufacturers, dealers and hauliers across the UK.

Despite the significant challenges and the decline in the new car market throughout 2020 dealers are still showing resilience with consumer appetite for electric vehicles continuing to grow. Dealers are adapting their processes to provide ‘click & collect’ services to customers in a safe and compliant manner, these resilient dealers are well placed for growth after we eventually put lockdown 3 behind us.

Motor auctions are also showing resilience and most are confident online sales will continue to offset the closure of physical premises during the lockdown , with a Brexit deal now agreed and vaccines approved a degree of confidence will quickly return to economy.
