Great news this week as BCA Company Supreme Wheels announced the planned opening of a new £2 million facility in Milton Keynes, capable of producing 500,000 wheels annually the Milton Keynes site when open will be the largest of its kind in Europe.

Its more positive news from within the automotive industry this week as the BVRLA’s latest quarterly survey highlights a surge in demand for electric vehicles. Battery electric vehicles (bevs) surged to take a 15% share of new lease car registrations in the third quarter of 2020, as the Government’s Benefit-in-Kind (bik) tax incentives took full effect. Nearly one-fifth of the BVRLA car leasing fleet now relies on some form of powertrain electrification as the fleet sector continues to drive the transition to cleaner road transport. What’s also interesting within the report is the demise of the diesel engine, diesel’s share of the total lease car market has fallen below 50% for the first time.

Finally, despite the huge fall in new car sales during January due to lockdown the majority of dealers we speak too are optimistic about the rest of 2021. A pent-up demand for vehicles is expected to convert to new car sales as soon as its safe for dealerships to open.
