Are you planning to get away this May bank holiday weekend? With the latest easing of Covid restrictions many of us are planning to see friends and family or simply take a day trip to the coast or perhaps even the Lake District.
Be prepared to see a dramatic difference in levels of traffic and congestion this weekend, with an estimated 62% more leisure trips planned this coming bank holiday than four weeks ago queuing will be nauseatingly commonplace . Research this week by RAC Breakdown suggests nearly 15million leisure trips will be made between Friday and Monday, the highest levels of traffic for over five years, Saturday will be the busiest day of the weekend with an expected 2.6 million trips alone.
My recommendation is to ensure you make the usual pre-drive checks before setting out, alternatively leave the car on the drive and enjoy the peace and quiet of your local area as your neighbours set out to become part of the Great Bank Holiday traffic jam.
