Pent up demand for light commercial vehicles (LCV’s) means so far 2021 is the third best year for van sales since records began, year-to-date figures were up 75.9% on last year a staggering 191,513 new vans have already exchanged hands this year. The demand for new vehicles has unfortunately been tempered by a supply issue with some buyers facing extended waiting times for delivery. The used van market is also extremely buoyant with a strong demand for used vans primarily for camper van conversion purposes, Brits wishing to vacation at home this year have driven the price and demand for used vans to new record levels.
Yesterday we heard of one van owner being offered £2000 more for his 50,000 mile Volkswagen Transporter than he paid for it 2 years previously! If the supply chain can match the demand 2021 could be a much welcome record year for the commercial sector.
