The Government wants the adoption of electric vehicles to continue at a pace, in order to avoid an electric vehicle (EV) skills gap the investment in EV skills training to help employers ensure the workforce is EV-ready needs to at least match the investment in EV charging otherwise the Government’s 2030 green ambitions could very quickly be derailed.
With a predicted skills gap of over 35,000 technicians by 2030 and plug-in cars due to account for 21.5% of all new car registrations next year alone (according to the SMMT) then the next big challenge is training a workforce adequately qualified to keep electric vehicles maintained and safe on the roads.
