A shocking survey this week, The Annual Local Authority Road maintenance (ALARM) report by the (AIA)Asphalt Industry Alliance highlights the soaring cost to repair Britain’s pothole-stricken roads. More than £12bn is required to put the roads back into a usable condition with an unbelievable nine years needed to clear the backlog. The cost to both private and fleet operators for vehicle repairs due to pothole riddled roads stands at £1.7bn over the last 12 months alone. 37,000 miles of network could need to be rebuilt in the next five years with a staggering 13.3 million motorists saying their car has suffered damage in the last year as a direct result of pothole damage.
