The Electric Show: Peugeot goes primetime with first original webcast

PEUGEOT will bust common myths and misconceptions about living with both electric vehicles (EV) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) in an exclusive webcast designed to help drivers who are considering making the switch to an electrified powertrain. The PEUGEOT Electric Show airs at 19:30 (BST) on 28 June across PEUGEOT UK social media channels, including: YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram TV and Twitch, hosted by motoring journalist, presenter and EV expert, Jonny Smith.

The Electric Show coincides with booming interest in electrified models, which despite the lockdown has not waned. According to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) the sales of battery electric vehicles rose by 21.5 per cent in May compared to the same period in 2019 – making it the only sector of the UK market to register an increase.

The episode will showcase the brand’s ‘choose your PEUGEOT, choose your powertrain’ philosophy with the latest electrified PEUGEOT models, including the all-new, award-winning e-208, e-2008 SUV and 3008 SUV HYBRID4, with 300hp and four-wheel drive. By 2023, all PEUGEOT models will have an electrified variant.

Jonny will highlight that electrified vehicles are no longer just for early adopters or environmental supporters! He will also seek to answer the most burning questions that face customers buying an electric or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, covering everything from running costs, range and charging to other concerns, such as fears around taking an electric vehicle through a car wash.

Jonny Smith, Electric Show presenter, said: “The improvement in urban air quality experienced during the Covid-19 lockdown is just one of the reasons why customers are considering the latest generation of EVs. With seamless power delivery, oodles of practicality and a zero tail pipe emission driving range of 217 miles, the all-new PEUGEOT e-208 combines all the traditional virtues of a supermini with the benefits of an advanced EV.”

The broadcast is the latest customer innovation introduced by PEUGEOT during the Covid-19 lockdown. The entire model range is available via PEUGEOT’s Buy Online platform, where customers can browse and order their vehicle from the comfort of their own home.

PEUGEOT’s new Virtual Showroom even allows buyers to connect with a trained PEUGEOT Product Specialist who can answer their questions while providing a live 360º tour around the latest models. Using the Virtual Showroom, customers can see all the unique features and specification the cars have to offer in real time.

Once they’ve previewed the models in the virtual showroom customers can go on to configure their perfect vehicle, value their part exchange – if they have one and personalise their finance before completing their purchase online, all from the comfort of their own home.

With free Home Delivery, PEUGEOT customers can now complete their entire purchase at home, with new protocols in place to protect the health and well-being of both the customer and the delivery driver. These include the use of protective covers for the steering wheel, gear stick, seat and floor mats, disinfecting the control panel and steering wheel upon delivery, while the delivery driver will wear gloves, mask and safety glasses.

Alternatively, ‘Click and Collect’ is now available at selected Retailers for both new and used vehicles, with equally stringent safety measures in place. For customers who prefer to visit a Retailer, PEUGEOT has fitted protective screens, hand sanitiser stations and floor markings to its showrooms, with protective covers and cleaning protocols for demonstration vehicles.

In addition, retail customers wishing to finance a car through PEUGEOT PCP Passport can Park the Payment**, with no monthly payments for three months and a representative 7.9% APR**.

PEUGEOT’s range of zero emissions vehicles includes the all-electric e-208 and e-2008 while the electrified line-up of low emission vehicles comprises the 3008 SUV, 508 Fastback, 508 SW, e-Expert and e-Traveller.

David Peel, Managing Director of PEUGEOT UK, said: “PEUGEOT is fully committed to an electrified future, with all models in our range benefitting from an electrified powertrain by 2023. With the PEUGEOT Electric Show we wanted to bust some of the common myths around electric vehicle and plug-in hybrid vehicle ownership. The only part of the market to experience sales growth over the last few months has been the electric vehicle sector, but British drivers still have lots of questions about what it’s like to buy and live with one. We wanted to give the growing number of buyers who are considering an electric model the information they need to feel fully informed.”
