The Warwickshire Collection, 21 eclectic cars to be auctioned at the Silverstone Classic live online auction

Silverstone Auctions are to offer The Warwickshire Collection, 21 classic and modern cars which formed part of a larger significant collection at its forthcoming sale on the 31^st July – 1^st August.

With their next auction less than two weeks away, Silverstone Auctions closed their catalogue last week with three large collections to be offered among 263 Lots across two days.

The Warwickshire Collection is the latest one to be announced, with 21 cars which formed part of a larger and more significant collection. This collection has to be one of the most eclectic, with some stunning classics and also some of the finest British luxury cars.

From the collection are five glorious Citroens including this 1970 Citroën DS21 Decapotable Coachwork by Henri Chapron. The DS is an iconic name that has been attached to some fantastic designs and this Decapotable is one of them. A rare convertible that was sold new to Germany and had two owners prior to coming over to the UK where it gained an MOT in 2007. It then went to Hungary for a short while before coming back to the UK in late 2009. It has resided in this significant collection until now when it is to be auctioned for an estimated £90,000 to £105,000. A fabulous and elegant car that will require commissioning.

Our next car is the 1949 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon or Woodie as they are commonly called due to the timber styling of the rear. This car is such a rare offering as only 653 were ever made in this year and only 21 were exported. This was the most luxurious wagon of the time in America. To make it even rarer, it is believed that only 20 now survive. This is an exceptional car, owned for the first 28 years from new by the same person, sold to a ranch in Arizona where the car was used to welcome visitors due to the luxury the car offered. It was treated to $15,000 of work to the mechanicals in 2009 and then in 2010 over £2,000 was spent on the Dynaflow gearbox where over 90% of the moving parts were replaced for new ones.

An exceptional car in wonderful condition and estimated at £58,000 to £68,000. It will require recommissioning which will be well worth the effort to get this rare Woodie back on the road again.

Sticking to estates or more specifically Woodies, we also have the 1953 Allard P2 Safari Estate. This is even rarer than the Buick with only ten Safari Estates produced and now it is thought there may only be four left in existence. During its lifetime, this Safari has had a number of long-term owners and in the 1980s had some restoration work. When the car was fully restored it was finished in Bronze which has subsequently been changed to a more appropriate colour of British Racing Green. Even though it has had little use, this car is still presented in excellent condition with the black Everflex roof. Estimated at £45,000 to £55,000 this is a lovely piece of British motoring history that would be very welcome at classic events.

We now come to 2008 and the ultimate in British luxury, the Rolls-Royce Phantom VII Coupe. A UK-supplied right-hand -drive car in Diamond Black with a burgundy leather interior and powered by a 6.75-litre V12 engine. As with other cars in this collection, the Rolls-Royce has had little or no use and will require recommissioning hence the 23,698 miles on the clock. Estimated at £135,000 to £155,000 this is a superbly presented car.

“The cars offered in the Warwickshire Collection is possibly one of the most eclectic, you have the five Citroens, four Bentleys, a couple of current Rolls-Royces, a several lovely Alvis’ from the late forties, early fifties and mid-sixties, plus the 1938 Austin Light pickup. This is such a great collection of cars, some of which we sold back in May and will be selling further Lots in the future.”
