With Brits around the country returning to work after the long, hazy summer holiday, many are finding solace by daydreaming the 7.5 hours a day away. And what better way to daydream than check out what supercar can be yours for a mere £4 million?
Auto Trader, the UK’s largest digital marketplace for new and used cars, has released the top ten most insanely expensive cars onsite today, with Ferrari dominating the list at six entrants.

Topping the list at a dizzying £9,999,999 is the Ferrari 250 California Spyder, one of just 50 made in 1957. This particular model is the tenth California Spyder built and has just 115 miles on the clock. Not interested? How about using that cash for a mortgage on Dracula’s Castle in Romania (full value £86 million) or maybe buy two tonnes of European white truffles at £2,300 a pound.
In second place at £3,999,830 is the Ferrari Laferrari Aperta, one of just 209 made. Described as one of the most sought after limited series Ferrari of all time, it is finished in Giallo Triplo Strato with a Nero Racing Stripe. For those tempted to take it for a test drive, just think of what else you could have for the same amount. A 2-bedroom townhouse in Mayfair will set you back £3 million so you still have plenty of cash leftover to deck it out in style.
In second place is the McLaren P1 GTR at £3,000,000. A petrol/electric plug-in hybrid, this stunning supercar has a 3.8 L twin-turbocharged engine enabling it to reach 0-60 mph in under 2.8 seconds and soon after reaching a top speed of 225 mph.
If you can’t quite make the £3 million mark, how about the Lamborghini Miura SV at £2,595,000? A classic 1972 model, it was first delivered new to the Saudi Royal Family and was eventually found underneath a hoard of cardboard boxes in a large warehouse owned by the family in 2005, with just 3,600 miles on the clock. And if you don’t want this Saudi special, you could instead spend your hard earned cash on a six month stay at the Royal Suite in the Lanesborough Hotel. At £14,000 a night, it includes a private kitchen, views of Wellington Arch, and even a personal butler.
Halfway down the list is the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse at £2,550,000. This amazing one off fully exposed carbon fibre Vitesse has covered only 2,200 miles, and is one of just a handful to boast a two-tone exterior carbon in blue and black. It is fully upholstered in tangerine and dark blue hide with complimenting carbon fibre fascia.
Number six is one of the most sought after hyper cars on the market today at 1 of just 499 made, the Ferrari Laferrari 6.3 for £2,450,000. The LaFerrari represents Ferrari’s most ambitious project yet to push the boundaries of technology on a road car, drawing together the brand’s technical capabilities in both GT and Formula 1 engineering. For the same price, you could have bought Mary Berry’s old home in Penn, Buckinghamshire. The three-story, six-bedroom property boasts a large, open plan kitchen complete with the Aga she used to create some of her most famous recipes.
For number seven is the Ferrari Enzo ‘Schumacher’ at £2,250,000. This special Enzo was ‘car number two’ off the production line and shown by the factory at Ferrari Racing Days, Nürburgring, Germany in August 2002, where it was driven by Ferrari F1 World Champion Michael Schumacher himself. If this doesn’t float your boat, how about. Buying two KFC franchises for the same price, complete with stock, staff and marketing. Bargain (bucket) deal!
In at number eight is the Ferrari 288 GTO for £1,999,950. This coupe has covered 42,000 miles, and accelerated from 0-60 mph in five seconds flat to a top speed of 189 mph, making it one of the fastest road legal cars of its era.
Coming in at number nine is the Bugatti Veyron Supersport at £1,850,000. With a polished black finish, blue brake calipers and black and burnt orange stitching for the interiors, it is easy to see why this beauty is in the top ten. But if you do fancy something else for the pocket money, you could try becoming a wine connoisseur and buying 20 bottles of the most expensive wine in the world, 1811 Chateau d’Yquem, at £94,000 a pop.
At finishing off the top ten is the Ferrari 250 GT Lusso for £1,800,000. The Ferrari Lusso, translated to English as ‘luxury’ was initially revealed at the Paris Motor Show in October 1962 and was instantly desired by celebrity petrolheads including Steve McQueen and Eric Clapton. For the price of this, you could buy your own castle in Scotland, with even enough left over to deck it out in style.
