Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles secures double title at Business Van Awards 2023

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles was awarded two prestigious accolades at the 2023 Business Van Awards, with the Caddy Cargo named ‘Best Small Van,’ and the brand’s conversion programme topping the competition.

Now in their ninth year, the 2023 Business Van Awards recognised the manufacturers that are leading the way in the SME and business sector. Split across a range of categories, the awards were judged by an independent panel of experts from within the sector.

While recognising Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ conversion programme as best-in-class, judges noted its huge range that provides the versatility to build a vehicle suitable for trade occupations.

Commenting on the award, Chris Wright, Editor at Business Van, said: “If your business has more unusual requirements, a standard model won’t fit the bill. You need more flexibility to find the right solution. Volkswagen conversions offer a huge range of options either an off-the-shelf conversion or a bespoke design.”

Justin Smart, Specialist Sales Technical Manager at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said: “We are delighted that the judges selected ours as the best-in-class conversion programme, recognising the strength and breadth of our offering for business owners. Supporting drivers from design through to delivery forms part of our Working With You promise, making it all the more gratifying to be commended for a programme we’re so proud of.”

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ off-the-shelf conversions, enables business owners to purchase vehicles that have been safely adapted into multiple variations, each meeting the highest European design standards. The Crafter conversion programme, for instance, offers customers a chance to choose from are the Dropside, Tipper and Luton variants, all of which come with extensive wheelbase, payload and engine combinations. Every Crafter conversion comes with a plethora of benefits found in the standard chassis – a 3-year warranty, Electromechanical Servotronic steering and a range of safety and driver assistance systems.

Alternatively, customers can work with Volkswagen’s network of Recognised Converters to create a bespoke design suited to their specific business requirements. Impressing judges further, and to maintain the high standard synonymous with the brand, independent converters undergo rigorous technical and commercial inspections before they can be included in the programme. Vehicles converted under the programme also come with the same warranty and comprehensive aftersales support found on Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ standard vans.

Judges also presented the manufacturer with the ‘Best Small Van’ award for its fifth generation Caddy Cargo. Offering a 3.1m³ load volume and 700kg payload, the van provides functionality and spaciousness on a compact platform. The award recognised the Caddy Cargo for its varied infotainment system, ergonomic driver’s stations and innovative Driver Assist features, which help to make longer journeys pleasant and comfortable. These include a host of intelligent tech features as standard, such as Bluetooth® hands-free, a 6.5 inch colour touch-screen and a multi-function steering wheel.

Editor at Business Van, Chris Wright, said: “This confident, capable and versatile van is the perfect choice for your business.  With innovative Driver Assist features, varied infotainment systems and an ergonomic driver’s workstation.”

Rounding off its successes at the 2023 Awards, the manufacturer was also highly commended for its Used Van programme, thanks to its quality checks, comprehensive warranty and flexible finance options.
