‘Armchair’ car sales shoot up in lockdown as buyers shift away from showrooms

More people are buying their next used car from their living room, with new digital car sales platform Carzam predicting sales of more than 20,000 high quality, late model used cars in its first full year following unprecedented demand.

Just six weeks since it went live at www.carzam.co.uk, the new online used car sales platform has delivered more than 1,000 cars.

The revolutionary new company, which puts customer service first and foremost, can offer a next-day turnaround on much of its stock and is led by a team of high profile automotive industry experts with unrivalled experience in the motor trade.

Carzam founder Peter Waddell said: “We’ve seen a trend toward people buying more and more significant things online over recent years, but the three recent lockdowns have accelerated the UK’s thirst for e-commerce.

“People are now making much bigger purchases online – and with confidence – from cars to houses, consumer electronics to domestic appliances.”

The company is on track with it’s strategy to  sell more than 20,000 cars in its first year of trading, all ordered online and delivered directly to the new owner’s door with a no-quibble guarantee – and that number is only going to get bigger as consumer trends evolve.

“A few years ago, you wouldn’t buy a TV or a cooker without going to look at one in a showroom first,” added Waddell.

“But today people don’t think twice about clicking ‘add to basket’ and having their major purchases brought to their doors. With the Carzam guarantee and peerless customer services, we’re making it possible for people to do just that with cars, and to do it with complete confidence.”

The appeal of Carzam is that buyers can choose their car, finance it and arrange for it to be delivered to their door all from the comfort of their armchair without having to interact with anyone in a high pressure sales environment, yet they are also reassured by a comprehensive no-quibble guarantee for added peace-of-mind.

Ashley Wade, marketing director of Carzam, said: “Carzam exists to provide a more superior end-to-end e-commerce experience to find, buy, sell and finance used cars online.

“For years research has told us that customers do not enjoy or trust the traditional buying experience. What we provide is a completely transparent and hassle free environment for customers to shop – after all, a car is a major purchase and it’s not right that you should feel under pressure to commit to buying one in a showroom environment if that’s not somewhere you’re comfortable.

“Consumer buying behaviours have been shifting online for years and as automotive moves into the online environment we are able to offer our customers the same convenient home service that they receive from many non-automotive retailers.”

Led by Big Motoring World CEO Peter Waddell and backed by former Cox Automotive boss John Bailey, the depth of motor trade experience inside Carzam is incredibly comprehensive.

Carzam offers a huge choice of approved used cars, prepared through its central hub at Peterborough, Cambs. It is hosted at www.carzam.co.uk and as well as home delivery cars can be collected at two centres, one in London and another in Corby . With a new collection point planned for the very near future.
