Bicester Heritage’s Flywheel event makes action-packed return

Over 15,000 attendees descended on Bicester Heritage during the weekend of the 17th and 18th of June for its celebratory ten-year anniversary event: Flywheel. From this, around 2,000 attendees were aged U14.

1,500 tickets, from the total number, were given away by charity partner StarterMotor to local schools and charities.

The Experience & Demonstration ended its five-year Flywheel silence, with more than 80 cars putting on a show, celebrating over 120 years of motoring in action. The marques on display ranged from a 1903 Knox to a one-day-old Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Historic rally cars slid their way around the figure-of-eight circuit, capped off with a series of donuts by Rob Smith of the Vintage Car Radiator Company, and Bentley’s ‘Birkin Blower’ from the 1930 Le Mans and the Le Mans Collection Edition Continental GT made it a triumvirate of Crewe’s finest.

In partnership with on-site specialist business Motor Spirit, Sustain Classic launched the first sustainable fuel for classic cars at the event, a 98 RON and <1% ethanol fuel manufactured using agricultural waste.

The track action, led away by the Polestar 2 BST Edition course car, was set against a backdrop of historic aircraft that included the return of the Bristol Blenheim.

HERO-ERA and Prodrive took the wraps off its secret collaboration, based on an original Ford Mustang: HERO-ERA 1 on the Saturday of the event.

Dan Geoghegan, CEO, Bicester Motion comments:
“What a memorable weekend! We were very pleased to have welcomed so many members of the community, particularly holders of the 1,500 tickets given free to local schools and charities. Thank you to everyone who attended our Flywheel event this past weekend and helping us to create such a jubilant atmosphere across our Bicester Heritage site.”
