Seat takes two at Tow Car Awards

SEAT has scooped a pair of accolades at the annual Tow Car Awards event for two of its popular SUV models.

Taking the 1,400-1,549kg category award, the SEAT Ateca was commended for its stability, punchy performance and overall practicality.

The Arona SUV – the smaller sibling of the Ateca – won the Ultralight category where despite its compact size, it was praised for its ability to keep a caravan or trailer under control at high speeds.

The annual Tow Car Awards has been running since 2007 and has rigorously tested over 500 vehicles across four key competencies: Towing, Everyday Driving, Practicality and Buying & Owning.

SEAT UK Head of Marketing, Andy McGregor, said: “Seeing our products win plaudits for their breadth of abilities is very satisfying. SUVs should be multifunctional, but it is no mean feat to achieve this while also receiving praise for handling, performance and value for money. The Ateca and Arona are ideal companions for those who want to tow caravans or trailers, or anyone who wants an extremely capable and stylish SUV.”

Seen as the most thorough assessment of the best tow cars available, the Tow Car Awards is a combined venture between Practical Caravan, What Car? and Camping & Caravanning magazines.

David Motton, Tow Car Editor, Practical Caravan, said: “Stability is the cornerstone of any good tow car, and the Ateca is reassuringly secure at all speeds. The petrol engine provides punchy performance, and four-wheel drive helps put the car’s power to the road.

“In our lane-change test the SEAT Arona was exceptional for such a light car. It is great fun to drive, with a firm but well-judged ride and lively handling. It will be economical to run and should hold its value well too.”
