True fleet sales continue to decline in February

True fleet sales in the UK have continued to decline, although February 2018 saw the lowest volume loss in a month-on-month comparison since February 2017.

The total market finished 2.8% down, with a little under 81,000 registrations.

True fleet was 7.5% down, while the private market saw a 2.1% decline, according to Dataforce.

Only special channels registered a 4.6% increase, thanks solely to the Dealer/Manufacturer channel.

Dataforce, who compiles the figures, forecasts that April 2018 may see a positive growth for true fleet.

Five manufacturers achieved growth in February 2018. Ford took the top spot, followed by VW, Vauxhall and Audi.

Seat achieved the highest growth rate with a 57.5% increase in total registrations, thanks to the new Arona and the Leon, which pulled a three-digit growth rate.

SUV is still the dominating segment across the board, stealing sales from the Middle Class segment.

The new smaller SUV and crossover models entering the market are hitting the compact segment hard too with true fleet registrations falling by 5.1% and private market falling 24.9%.
