A recent survey by Fleet Evolution of 10,000 drivers, fleet and HR managers, small businesses and private motorists still points towards a misconception around electric vehicles with an amazing 40% saying the next car they buy will be a diesel with only 30% stating an EV was their next car of choice. The biggest reason for the hesitancy of purchasing an electric vehicle is still cost, 36% of respondents still believe EV’s are simply too expensive, the lack of public charging was less of a deterrent with only 25% of respondents stating this was an issue. Although it’s disappointing that cost is still a major barrier to increased uptake of EV’s its understandable, awareness and charging points can quickly and easily be resolved expecting motorists to dig even deeper into their pockets is always going to be a difficult ask.
